Rapid Action for Abrasions, Sores & Wounds in Livestock

A Comprehensive Care Kit for Cleaning and Coating Compromised Coats & Skin on Livestock and Pets.

The Need for Fast and Effective Action in Caring for Livestock Sores and Wounds

In the barn, on the farm, or in the field, animals can easily suffer cuts, scrapes, or abrasions. Left unattended, even small sores can quickly escalate into larger health concerns, impacting mobility, productivity, and overall well-being. Fast, thorough, and safe wound care is critical—not just to prevent infection, but to promote rapid recovery. Livestock and pets alike benefit from products that can cleanse the affected area, control microbial activity, and shield the wound against dirt and further irritation. Klean Wound™ is designed with exactly these challenges in mind, helping owners, handlers, and veterinarians address minor wounds before they become major setbacks.

The History of Chitosan in Caring for Wounds

Chitosan, a naturally derived biopolymer, has been studied and used for decades in medical and veterinary applications. Its unique properties allow it to form a clear, flexible coating over wounds—acting like an “invisible bandage” that protects the area while remaining breathable and non-toxic. Beyond its protective layer, Chitosan creates an unfavorable surface for harmful microbes, helping to support cleaner, safer healing conditions. In the context of animal care, this means a practical, farm-ready solution for everything from small pasture abrasions to everyday kennel scrapes.

Klean Wound™ Component A

Each Klean Wound™ kit includes Component A, a pack of (12) pre-measured 1-gram tablets. When dissolved in the included 32 oz amber PET mixing bottle, these tablets create a cleansing solution formulated at an optimal 100ppm strength. The bottle features a squirt-top applicator, allowing users to easily flush and saturate the wound site, lifting away debris, dirt, and other contaminants. This cleansing action creates a clean foundation for the next step of wound management: sealing and protecting with Component B.

Klean Wound™ Component B

Klean Wound B

Component B is a 16 fl oz bottle of ready-to-use Chitosan-based wound coating. Applied directly after cleansing, this viscous, clear solution forms a biostatic layer over the wound. It acts as an invisible shield that clings to the sore, protecting it from outside contaminants, dirt, and moisture.

Unlike traditional bandages, it doesn’t restrict movement or require replacement, making it ideal for active livestock, working dogs, or show animals. This combination of cleansing and protective coating provides a complete, farm-proven approach to keeping animals healthy and healing.
